November 26th
|
||
| A one man show featuring the photographic artistry of
Bill Morgenstern will begin October 8 and run through
November 26, 2011 at the Stinger Studio, 4410 Williams Drive
in Georgetown, Texas. Titled "Spirit of the Forest" the exhibit will showcase 20 photographic images captured and manipulated in camera of forests and trees from both the USA and Canada over a period of 10 years. This exhibit captures the essence and spirit of the forest in a way that touches both the soul of the viewer and inner spirit of the sylvan subjects. For more information:

Artist Statement:
I have always been drawn to trees and forests. Through photography I
attempt to capture the spiritual essence of both rather than a purely
documentary view. I use my camera as a paint brush on a pallet of light,
color, and motion to create images that define the mystical spirit
within rather than an easily observed visual absolute.
While photographing, I spend time with my subjects listening and often
just sitting and watching as the wind blows and light changes. Using
calculated camera motion during the time of exposure, I capture what I
believe to be their stories and ethereal being. Each image is created
wholly in the camera and only post processed for contrast and some color
saturation. Over time I have learned to pre-visualize and select
appropriate camera settings that define a mood and show the spirit of
the forest as it is revealed to me. This is how I see it and share it
with you.
I must give some credit to Canadian photographers Freeman Patterson and
Andre Gallant for their influence on my creative work. Both
photographers challenge me to look beyond the obvious to find a deeper
meaning while creating photographic images as a reflection of my
connection with the spirit of trees and forests.
Another powerful influence on the process of creating these images has
been my Anishinabe friends and elders. They taught me that all things
found in nature are alive and have a spirit with messages to share for
all who take the time and are willing to listen and learn.
New gallery images are now up and for sale at RedBubble and Fine Art America.
Bill has now re-opened his business in Texas and will be a part of a
local mixed media art exhibit at the new Stinger Studio on Williams
Drive in Georgetown, Texas. This exhibit formed around the Lyrics of
Loreena McKennit's song "Courtyard Lullaby" can be viewed at the studio
March thru April, 2011.
Many new images are now available from Bill's new residence in Texas.
Images include birds and beaches, wildflowers and Texas icons like
longhorn cattle. Texas "Hill Country" activities and local culture along
with many state park views are also represented.
Future imaging will include Texas tourist attractions, cultural events
and fine art images that present the natural beauty of this diverse
area.
